DOCTalks participates in initiatives that build and promote cross-sector collaborations and partnerships to create knowledge based digital media content for social, cultural, educational and economic purposes.

The primary goal of the Fredericton Community Collaboration Initiative is to build a more caring and collaborative society.

The days of government agencies trying to address and remediate all societal problems are ending. With shrinking budgets in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors, new models to engage the public in the remediation of societal issues will need to be sought.

As an incubator for social change the Fredericton Community Collaboration Initiative will seek to:

  • foster and facilitate cross-sector collaborations by identifying a social issue of mutual concern in the community;
  • raise the level of public awareness and engagement around a social issue by collaboratively creating, funding and mobilizing ‘knowledge based’” digital media content to help remediate it (i.e. produce a short film about the social issue and promote via social media).

Through a series of events in 2015 and 2016, the Fredericton Community Collaboration Initiative will bring together interested representatives from various cross-sectors in the community to collaborate and incubate social change.
